The most active buyers are the product companies at Technopark Kazhakkoottam adding AI features to platforms they already sell, because they have data, customers and a reason to move quickly. Behind them are the IT services firms on campus and at Infopark Kochi, building AI components for overseas clients and retraining existing developers into these roles. The startup ecosystem around Technopark, including companies coming through the state startup incubation route, hires small numbers but gives unusually broad exposure to anyone willing to work without a safety net. Then there is a long tail that people overlook: digital agencies in Trivandrum and Kochi automating content and creative production, edtech companies building tutoring and assessment tools, health-tech firms working on clinical documentation, and internal automation teams inside larger Kerala businesses. A word of caution — pure research positions in generative AI barely exist in this state, and job titles containing the phrase are still outnumbered by ordinary software roles that quietly expect these skills.

What you build, week by week, and why it matters

The course is deliberately build-first. You work with the major model families through their APIs, learn where open-weight models running locally make more sense on cost or privacy grounds, and get comfortable with the practical craft: structured prompting, function and tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation over a real document set, embeddings and vector search, chunking strategies that do not shred meaning, and evaluation harnesses so you can prove a change helped. Agentic patterns follow — multi-step workflows, tool use, error recovery — along with the guardrail work that separates a demo from something you would let a customer touch. Cost control, latency, caching and prompt injection get real attention because that is what breaks in production.

Programming ability helps enormously here. Python is the working language of the course; if you have never written code, tell the counsellor and we will point you at a programming foundation first rather than take your fee for a class you would struggle in.

Batches run at the Ulloor centre, about twenty minutes from Technopark, with evening slots for people already working and online-live for those travelling from further out. This field moves quickly and course content is revised often, which also means nobody can honestly promise you a specific job title.
